INSPIRE Leadership recognized for outstanding achievement in student affairs practices

Gabriel Pillay, Executive Director, Strategy and Planning, Dean of Students, Corpus Christi College and St. Marks College, has won the Mission Integration Award recognizing outstanding achievement in student affairs practices.

The INSPIRE Leadership certificate program at Corpus Christi College and St. Marks College has been recognized in America as a ground-breaking initiative developing students’ skills, sense of mission and commitment to community. Association of Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASACCU) annually presents the Best Practices in Mission Integration award, one of their three prestigious Best Practice Awards to highlight and recognize best practices in various student affairs areas.

“I wish to congratulate Gabe for this significant achievement, one that shines a light on his excellent leadership, but also celebrates the quality of our Colleges to foster student success,” added Dr. Gerry Turcotte, President and Vice-Chancellor at St. Mark’s and Corpus Christi College.

Gabe is travelling to the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota to receive his award and present one of the Keynote talks at the 2023 ASACCU Summer Conference.

The INSPIRE Leadership certificate program goes beyond preparing students for their future careers and academic success. It also aims to develop skills and aptitudes that will help them set goals, find purpose, and commit to serving their community. The curriculum includes activities that identify and strengthen habits and attitudes crucial for personal leadership development. Students will also learn about the relationship between leadership and community involvement, exploring concepts such as philanthropy, volunteerism, civic responsibility, and social change. The program comprises four courses, all geared towards nurturing students’ leadership potential.
