Have Your Say – The Church is Listening: Synod Listening Session
Nov 16, 2021
The Centre for Christian Engagement invites all Catholics to participate in a listening session on November 16 at St. Mark’s College and Corpus Christi College. Pope Francis has called this Synod to hear what is on the hearts and minds of all Catholics, no matter how involved they are with the Church at this time.
This event is open to students, staff and faculty of Corpus Christi College, St. Mark’s College and UBC. We will divide the larger group into small groups of students, staff, or faculty to facilitate openness and the opportunity for everyone to listen to each other.
The Archdiocese has been working on particular questions for local Catholics to consider. The questions are listed below to allow for reflection and prayer prior to our event:
- What helps or prevents you from being active in the Church’s mission?
- What influences how you live your Faith?
- What particular issues in the Church do we need to pay more attention to?
- What particular issues in society do we need to pay more attention to?
- How can we, the local Church, journey with our Indigenous brothers and sisters in a process of healing and reconciliation?
- From this time of listening, could you sum up in one or two sentences how the Spirit is calling us to grow in “journeying together” in our Church in Vancouver?
Pizza and soft drinks will be served.
Please RSVP to Dr. John Martens ([email protected]) so we know how much pizza to order. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Dr. Martens.
