As physical exercise aims to strengthen the physical core of a person, so spiritual exercise aims to strengthen the spiritual core. This presentation aims to help listeners consider the possibility of greater interior capacity through spiritual exercise, resulting in a stronger and more resilient way of moving forward in life.

Fr. Casey C. Beaumier, S.J.

Fr. Casey C. Beaumier, S.J., holds a Ph.D. in United States religious history from Boston College and focused his dissertation on the development of Jesuit education in the 20th century.

At the University, he serves as Vice President and University Secretary, and directs the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies at Boston College. The Institute seeks to deepen understanding and appreciation of the history, spirituality, educational heritage, and pedagogical approach of the Society of Jesus among Jesuits and lay faculty, administrators, and trustees through courses, workshops, publications, and scholarly symposia. As Vice President and Secretary, Fr. Beaumier serves as a liaison to the Board of Trustees Committee on Nominations and Governance; hosts and coordinates visits of international academic, religious, and political leaders; maintains official University records, and engages in pastoral outreach to students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Fr. Beaumier teaches undergraduate seniors in the Capstone program and graduate students in the Institute’s Certificate in Jesuit Studies program.

Fr. Beaumier lives as a chaplain for freshmen in Fenwick Hall, where he serves as mentor and spiritual director for students, seminarians, women religious, and priests.
