You are invited to the 18th Annual Fundraising Breakfast in support of St. Mark’s College and Corpus Christi College. Funds raised will benefit student scholarship and financial assistance programs.
The importance of Catholic higher education, which receives no government funding whatsoever while striving to meet our young people “where they are” on the journeys that are life and faith, is perhaps more important to the future of the church than it has ever been. This has been continuously stressed by Pope Francis, who encourages us to constantly be engaged in a spirit of encounter and dialogue, with each other, and with the world.

Sister Marie Zarowny, SSA, is a social justice advocate, educator, and Province Co-Leader for the Sisters of Saint Ann Western Canada region. For over 40 years, Sr. Marie has been dedicated to fostering opportunities that sustain and deepen the commitment of people engaged in faith-based education and social change. Since their arrival in BC in 1858, the pioneering Sisters of Saint Ann have worked to support education, expand healthcare, provide spiritual accompaniment, and alleviate poverty in Canada and beyond. They established 38 schools and 10 hospitals throughout BC, Alaska, and the Yukon. In 2016, the Sisters of Saint Ann contributed $3 million to the Colleges to establish the Marie Anne Blondin Chair in Theology. The endowment represents the largest in the Colleges’ history and the largest gift received by a Catholic college in BC. The generous gift from the Sisters supports the Colleges’ mission to educate lifelong learners who are prepared to engage with the intellectual, professional and social challenges of our times.
