Mar 30, 2026
Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College at the University of British Columbia are pleased to announce that Mrs. Reine Sader Mykyte will be the recipient of the institution’s inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award, in recognition of her meaningful service to education and the community.
The award will be presented by the Most Reverend Richard Smith, Archbishop of Vancouver and Chancellor of Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College, at the school’s 2026 Convocation on May 9, 2026.
Reine Sader Mykyte is a passionate supporter of Catholic education. She is currently the principal of a French Immersion Catholic school in Vancouver, École Saint-Sacrement/ Blessed Sacrament School. Mrs. Sader Mykyte began her higher education journey at Corpus Christi College where she studied from 1999 to 2001 and served as Chair of the Student Body. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Vancouver Island University (2014), a Bachelor of Education, French Language and Literature from Simon Fraser University (2005), and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and minoring in Economics from the University of British Colombia (2005).
After graduating in 2005, Mrs. Sader Mykyte started her teaching career. She served at Our Lady of Fatima School in Coquitlam and St. Andrew’s Regional High School in Victoria, before her position as principal at Blessed Sacrament School. She has been an educator in the Catholic school system in both French and English, teaching students from kindergarten to grade 12. Her passion for Catholic education has led to experiences beyond the classroom. In Fall 2025, Mrs. Sader Mykyte attended the Vatican’s Jubilee of Education, a special occasion where thousands of students and other educators from around the world gathered in Rome to connect and reflect on teaching and faith.
As Dr. Turcotte, President of the Colleges noted, “Reine is a deserving candidate of this award on so many levels, but it is also especially appropriate to inaugurate this award with an individual who was part of the very first cohort of students of Corpus Christi College over 25 years ago.”
Corpus Christi and St. Mark’s Colleges are grateful for Reine’s unwavering support to our community.
