A Series on Synodality
Nov 15, 2025

The Center for Christian Engagement at St. Mark’s College continues the Synodality lecture series with Dr. Nicholas Olkovich on January 14, 2026 7pm: The Synodal Parish: A Sign of Hope for a Broken World, at St. Mark’s College.
In Vademecum for the Synod on Synodality, Pope Francis writes: “If listening is the method of the Synodal Process, and discerning is the aim, then participation is the path. Fostering participation leads us out of ourselves to involve others who hold different views than we do.”
The series began with four lectures:
– November 20, 2025 7pm: The New Testament Origins of Synodality, with Dr. John Martens. St. Matthew’s Parish, Surrey.
– December 13, 2025 2:30pm: Mary as a Model for a Synodal Church, with Dr. Fiona Li.
St. Peter’s Parish, New Westminster.
– December 13, 2025. 2:30pm: The Old Testament Origins of Synodality, with Rev. Dr. Nick
Meisl. St. Peter’s Parish, New Westminster.
– January 14, 2026 7pm. The Synodal Parish: A Sign of Hope for a Broken World, with Dr. Nicholas
Olkovich. St. Mark’s College, Vancouver.
All of the above lectures will culminate into a final lecture:
Friday, February 20, 2026, at 7PM: Toward a Spirituality for a Synodal Church, with
Dr. Cathy Clifford. St. Mark’s College, Vancouver.
