St. Mark’s College, the Catholic Theological College affiliated with the University of British Columbia,
invites applications for the Marie Anne Blondin Chair in Theology. Made possible by a generous
endowment from the Sisters of St. Ann, the Chair will support St. Mark’s vision of Catholic higher
education in the Province. The Chair will continue the Sisters’ legacy of concern for the integral
development of the whole person from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, as reflected in
their foundational apostolic work in the schools, hospitals and parishes of British Columbia since
1858. Activities of the Chair will support this legacy through teaching, research, and special lectures.
We seek an outstanding teacher and scholar with experience in course and program development
across a range of formats: Socratic, online, interdisciplinary, hybrid and cross-curricular. The
candidate will possess expertise and command of contemporary Roman Catholic Theology. The
successful candidate will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels to students from a
broad spectrum of religious traditions. In addition, the candidate should feel comfortable teaching
courses in a wide range of the Catholic theological tradition, with an awareness of historical context
as well as theological unity across those areas.
The area of theological research specialization is open, and the candidate is expected to continue
researching and publishing.
Teaching is required in broad areas of our curriculum, and will include special attention to:
- Pastoral Theology
- Foundations of Theology
- Systematic Theology
The ability to teach these three areas within an engagement with contemporary culture will be
considered a particular asset.
The successful candidate will hold the Blondin Chair for a period of five years. S/he will be
considered a regular, full-time faculty member at St. Mark’s College, will teach six courses per year
(including the potential for both undergraduate and graduate assignments across both St. Mark’s and
its sister college, Corpus Christi College), will research, and will be expected to share in service
responsibilities. The Colleges do not have a tenure system. The Chair is a temporary, full-time
employment contract at the assistant or associate professor level, with intent to offer the Chair
permanent full-time employment as part of the Colleges’ regular faculty at the end of the term as

Saint Mark’s College and Corpus Christi College are looking for one (1) full-time Executive Assistant for the President/Principal’s office with an expected start date of mid-December 2016/January 2017.
The Executive Assistant is accountable for requirements in support of the President/Principal and the wide-ranging duties of the office in a fast-paced, student-focused environment.
The duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- calendar organization
- scheduling of appointments and meetings
- handling confidential correspondence
- coordinating meetings of the Board, Senate, Education Council, and Staff
- event coordination support
- all day-to-day administration of the President/Principal’s office, both operational and strategic
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Post-secondary degree with one (1) to three (3) years of experience in multi-stakeholder organizations, with applicable work experience in an office environment
- Professional demeanor with excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders in a diplomatic manner
- Intermediate skills on Microsoft applications, including: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook
- Ability to exercise a high level of judgment, discretion and confidentiality
- Commitment to forwarding the missions and visions of St. Mark’s College and Corpus Christi College
